The European Synthetic Biology Society (EUSynBioS) was founded as a student-led initiative in late 2014, originally as “The European Association of Synthetic Biology Students and Postdocs”. The main focus at that time was to support students and postgraduates working in the field of synthetic biology by providing an online platform with resources and eventually by organizing annual symposia. The lack of pan-European synthetic biology initiatives, as well as our efforts to connect students with players from academia and industry, quickly led to a broadening of EUSynBioS’ goals and target group. In 2019, with a new vision and defined goals, EUSynBioS registered as a nonprofit organization in Paris, France, and changed its name to “The European Synthetic Biology Society” to reflect its restructuring. You can find here our official founding documents and by-laws of the Society. The Society is led by a Steering Committee composed of international scientists and experts based all around Europe.
