European SynBio Hackhaton Winners: ZOMBIO

 

Overview:

 

The European SynBio Hackathon, hosted by the Biocatalyst Foundation, brought together innovators from various fields to develop solutions for global challenges in synthetic biology.

The event, titled “ReadWriteGrow,” featured collaborative sessions, expert-led presentations, and mentorship opportunities. Participants were welcomed into the Slack channel, where they introduced themselves, joined interest channels (e.g., Health + Wellbeing, Agrifood + Nutrition), and found teammates in matchmaking sessions.

The hackathon’s organizers provided all essential resources, including links to Zoom sessions, mentorship booking channels, and an FAQ section, ensuring participants could smoothly navigate the event.

Led by the dynamic team of Malika Vassilova,and Maxim Velli, ZOMBIO’s innovative project earned them the top prize of €1,500. 🏆

 

What is ZOMBIO?

 

ZOMBIO has reimagined bioproduction with their novel three-chamber bioreactor design, unlocking the potential to produce high-value chemicals using waste feedstock. By focusing on a continuous fermentation process that works effectively at scale, ZOMBIO offers a transformative solution for sustainable and efficient chemical production.

This groundbreaking technology not only optimizes resource utilization but also addresses critical environmental challenges by repurposing waste materials into valuable bioproducts.

 

Hackathon Highlights


The European SynBio Hackathon provided the perfect platform for ZOMBIO to bring their vision to life:
